Camera systems and AI monitoring for farms and rural property

Farms get the hardest version of this problem: long distances, thin connectivity, nobody home. We cover the places worth covering, and we are straight about what a 4G or solar site can do.

The problems on a rural property

The valuable things sit in a handful of spots: machinery shed, workshop, fuel tank, chemical store, pump shed. Most are a long way from the house, further still from anyone who would notice.

Access is the other issue. A gate off a back road gets opened by people with no business there: illegal dumping, a ute in the stock paddock, someone eyeing off the shed. Fuel goes in jerry can quantities, which only looks like theft when you add up a year. And afterwards there is no vision — the gate was open on Tuesday, and that is all.

What we install

We plan around the points where valuables meet a way in, and what your power and network can carry.

  • Sheds and workshop. Cameras on the shed doors and inside over the machinery and benches, positioned for a usable view of a person.
  • Fuel and chemical store. The tank, pump and store door, where a slow loss becomes visible.
  • House yard and entrance. The driveway and front gate, angled so a plate is readable.
  • Remote gates and outbuildings. Possible, and the part needing most planning: power, a link back to the recorder, a mount that survives weather.
  • Recorder, storage and network. The NVR lives in the house or main shed. We size storage to camera count and retention, run cabling or wireless links between buildings, set up remote access, commission and hand over. See installation.

What the AI layer watches for

Footage stays on your recorder. Frames go to our own server for analysis, which is where connectivity sets the limits below.

  • After-hours alerts. A scheduled sweep checks the cameras during the hours you choose. If a person appears, you and anyone you nominate get an email with the frame attached. A cooldown stops repeat emails for one event.
  • Line crossing and gate monitoring. Lines across a gateway, shed door or track, logged as searchable events.
  • Counting. People and vehicle counts per camera over time, showing how much traffic a back gate really gets.

It detects and alerts. It does not identify people, read plates or prevent anything. What changes is hearing about a vehicle at the shed while it is still there. AI analytics lists each capability.

What you see day to day

An alert arrives as an email with the frame attached, so you can tell a contractor from a stranger without leaving the house. Movement also goes to a searchable timeline, with clips roughly ten seconds either side of each event, so next morning you check the gate and shed in minutes. How it works follows an alert through.

The honest version of the constraints

  • Connectivity sets the ceiling. Alerts and analysis depend on frames reaching our server over your internet service. A weak or metered 4G link limits how many cameras get analysed, and how often. Per-camera and hourly budgets cap both deliberately.
  • When the link drops, so do the alerts. The recorder keeps recording locally, so the vision is there to review later. The email is not.
  • Solar has to be sized for the bad week. A camera and a radio link draw power continuously, so panels and batteries must carry cloudy days and short winter light. A gate kilometres from power is a project, not an add-on. Wireless links need line of sight, and trees and hills break them.
  • Cameras do not watch paddocks. As a rough guide, a camera gives usable detail on a defined approach — a gateway, a shed door, a tank — not across open country.
  • Licensing and insurance. In several states installing security equipment is a licensed activity. Ask any installer for their licence and insurance details, including ours.
Questions

Frequently asked

Can we get alerts with only 4G at the house?

Often yes, on a limited number of cameras at a limited rate. Better done properly on the three positions that matter than thin across ten.

Will it tell us a gate was left open?

It logs crossings and activity at the gate, and alerts when a person appears in the hours you set — it detects movement and people, not a latch.

Do you install outside South East Queensland?

We install on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane and across South East Queensland, and work Australia-wide with remote setup and partner installers — workable for rural sites if someone can mount hardware. Pricing depends on distances and power, so tell us about the property.
