Perth's industrial map
Perth is long and flat, and its working areas follow that shape. Welshpool, Kewdale and Belmont sit near the airport and rail freight, full of transport and wholesale sites. Malaga and Wangara serve the north with large trade and manufacturing estates. Canning Vale, Jandakot and Bibra Lake are the southern equivalents. Down the coast, Kwinana, Henderson and Naval Base serve heavy industry and the port, while Osborne Park and O'Connor mix light industry, offices and showrooms close to the city.
Because blocks here are generous, many sites are open, with long fence lines and yards bigger than the building. That favours a camera layer that focuses on perimeters and gates.
How the AI layer fits
Your recorder continues to hold footage. Our server analyses frames from selected cameras, keeps events and clips, and emails the people you nominate when a person appears during the hours you set. Outside South East Queensland, we work with a local installer in Perth for cabling and mounting, while we set up, connect and support the AI layer. Details are on the installation page.
Site types and what we watch
- Transport and warehousing. Dock doors, gates and parked trailers. Stock movement checks can compare door activity against your own records. See warehouses and logistics and stock movement checks.
- Workshops and trade yards. Utes, trailers and tools overnight. See workshops.
- Construction sites. Perth's growth means plenty of temporary sites with scaffolding, plant and materials. See construction sites.
- Secure areas. Compounds and cages inside larger buildings, where door monitoring and after-hours alerts matter. See secure areas.
Heat, dust and distance
Perth summers are long and hot, and cameras and recorders both suffer. Metal-roofed units at Malaga or Kewdale can bake in the afternoon, so ventilation for recorders and switches is not optional. Sunlight on west-facing gates creates glare in the late afternoon, which affects detection as much as image quality.
Sandy soil and dry air make dust a regular nuisance, so lenses need occasional cleaning. Summer storms are less common than in Queensland, but lightning does occur, and surge protection on long cable runs is still sensible.
Perth also sits a long way from the eastern states. If one of your sites is in the Kwinana strip and another is in Wangara, they are a long drive apart, which makes remote visibility more valuable. A combined view of events across both sites cuts down the time spent travelling to check on things.
Western Australia has, for example, the Surveillance Devices Act 1998. This is general information, not legal advice, so check current legislation for your own situation. Tell staff, use signs, and keep cameras out of toilets and change rooms.
Next steps
Tell us your recorder, your camera count and when the site is empty. We will say what the AI layer can do on that equipment. See how it works and contact. If your business spans states, the Adelaide and Darwin pages cover other cities.
